TWU GOES TO COLORADO FOR TWO GAMES IN THE CONFERENCE CHALLENGE

DENVER, Colo. (Nov. 7, 2024) – The Texas Woman's basketball team goes on the road for their next two games of the season in the Conference Challenge, hosted by MSU Denver.

TWU (2-0) will meet regional opponents from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference this weekend. The Pioneers will play Western Colorado on Friday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. CST. Then, TWU will meet the host MSU Denver on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. CST.

Neither opponent has played a game yet this season.

Most recently, the Pioneers defeated Missouri Southern State and Northwest Missouri State. After a 2-0 week, Ashley Ingram was named the first Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week of the season.

ROAD TRIP ROAD WARRIORS
  • HISTORY WITH THE MOUNTAINEERS: The Pioneers are 5-1 all-time against Western Colorado. They have won the last four meetings with the Mountaineers, dating back to the 2017-18 season. TWU has not lost to the Mountaineers since the 2012-13 season. Last year, the Pioneers met Western Colorado in Denton, Texas, and TWU won 66-47. In the win, Leila Patel led TWU with 20 points. Ingram added 16 points, and Averee Kleinhans finished with 10 points.
  • HISTORY WITH THE ROADRUNNERS: TWU is 4-1 all-time against MSU Denver. Their only loss to the Roadrunners came in the 2006-07 season. Last season, the two teams met in Denton, Texas, and TWU won 66-36. Four Pioneers finished the game in double-digits: Patel led with 17 points, Ingram scored 14, Jada Celsur finished with 13 and Scout Huffman added 11 points.
  • POINTS IN THE PAINT & DEPTH: In their first two contests, the Pioneers scored 30-plus points in the paint. Additionally, TWU's bench scored 20-plus points in each game. Against MSSU, TWU had 34 points in the paint and 28 points from the bench. Then, against NWMSU, the Pioneers finished with 38 points in the paint and 21 points from the bench. The Pioneers strength in the post and depth from the bench will be key to the Pioneers' success this weekend.
