FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (Jan. 20, 2025) – In a Monday matinee meet, the Texas Woman's gymnastics team competed in their first meet on the road of 2025.
TWU competed in a tri meet against Arkansas and Denver. It marked the first time the Pioneers have competed at Arkansas since the 2019 season.
The Pioneers started out the day on the uneven bars. With a slow start on the opening apparatus, the anchor,
Kaitlyn Hoiland, led the way on the event with a 9.625. Overall, TWU scored a 46.900 on bars to open the meet.
TWU regrouped and responded well on the balance beam with a 47.950.
Bailey Upton led off the Pioneers on the beam with a career high 9.725.
Emma Brkljacic also displayed a strong routine with a season high 9.775.
In the third rotation, the Pioneers displayed a strong floor rotation with their highest event score of the day – a 48.750.
Trinity Caffey set the tone for TWU with a season high 9.775. Then, in the third spot,
Sophie Hernandez got the crowd excited with a season high 9.825 on the floor.
Sophia Isbell continued her strong performances on the floor with a 9.725 this afternoon. Then, in the anchor spot,
Bailey Bourgeois closed the third rotation with a career high 9.800 in just her second career performance on floor.
After floor, TWU closed the day on vault with a 48.725. Four Pioneers in the rotation posted above a 9.750. In the second spot,
Bailey Upton scored a 9.775, followed by a 9.750 on vault for
Steelie King. Caffey continued her strong day with a 9.800 in the fifth spot, and Hoiland anchored on the vault with a 9.775.
The host Arkansas won their home opener with a 197.000, and Denver posted a 196.325. The Pioneers closed their third meet of the season with a 192.325.
TWU will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. in Kitty Magee Arena against Air Force.
