TWU WALKING IN A WINNING WONDERLAND; RECORD EIGHTH STRAIGHT WIN TO CLOSE 2025

DENTON, Texas (Dec. 20, 2025) – To celebrate the holiday season and close 2025, the Texas Woman's basketball team unwrapped a big victory in Kitty Magee Arena, as the Pioneers win streak improves to eight straight.

On Saturday afternoon, the Pioneers faced Dallas Christian in a nonconference contest, and TWU (9-1, 3-0) matched their largest margin of victory, defeating DCC (4-4) 87-35. The 52-point win tied their largest margin of victory since 1989, which the Pioneers set last season on Feb. 1, 2025, in a 90-38 win over Cameron. In the win, TWU held the Crusaders to just 35 points – the lowest number of points scored by a TWU opponent since the 2021-22 season, when the Pioneers held Western New Mexico to 35 points.

TWU led throughout the entirety of the contest, and it was never tied, which marked their second wire-to-wire win of the season.

The Pioneers recorded three straight quarters of at least 21 points. On the defensive side of the ball, they held the Crusaders to three straight quarters of 8 or less points, including only allowing them to score five points in the second quarter. The three quarters marked the ninth, 10th and 11th quarters this season TWU as held an opponent to 10 or less points in a quarter.

TWU's dominant offense came mostly in the painted area, as the Pioneers scored 54 points in the paint. They also scored 34 points off 25 DCC turnovers. TWU's bench also came up big in the win, contributing 49 points. The Pioneers shot 51.4% from the field – their fifth time this season shooting 50% or higher in a contest. The 87 points scored by TWU marked their highest number of points scored this season.

Crashing the boards contributed to the Pioneers success on offense. They totaled 51 rebounds – 16 offensive and 35 defensive. It marked the most rebounds by TWU since Feb. 25, 2021, when the Pioneers grabbed 59 rebounds in a 67-58 win over Cameron.

On the defensive side of the ball, TWU held DCC to shooting just 22.6% from the field and 15.4% from the three point line.

As this marked the final nonconference game of the regular season for the Pioneers, TWU closed their nonconference schedule 6-1.
