SHAWNEE, Okla. (Feb. 15, 2025) - The Texas Woman's STUNT team competed in their second tournament of the year this weekend at the OBU tournament, finishing 3-1 in four matchups. The only loss came to conference rival St. Mary's by two points. The Pioneers secured victories in their other three games, closing the weekend with a three-game win streak, including wins over Drury, Southern Nazarene, and Missouri State.
"The team worked hard to clean up our performances and eliminate modifications in routines, which led to our success in the second tournament," said Head Coach Jasmine Owens. "With a close conference game and a win over a Division I program, our trajectory is on the rise!"
After a tough 14-12 loss in their tournament opener, Coach Owens and her squad rebounded on Friday with a crucial 11-9 victory over Drury to close out the night.
On the second day of the tournament, the Pioneers started with a dominant 17-3 win over Southern Nazarene in their rematch. The momentum carried into their final game of the day, where TWU defeated Missouri State 16-10 to close the tournament.
Several Pioneers earned top scorer honors, including Team MVP and tumbling star Kyla Clark, who posted a power rank of 100. The sophomore backspot contributed to 52 round wins out of 70 played.
Junior Jasmine Monroe earned recognition as the team's STUNT star with a power rank of 30, while co-tumbling star Alicia Kenney finished with a power rank of 67.
The Pioneers will return to Denton to host their first tournament of the season in Kitty Magee Arena, a two-day event scheduled for Feb. 28 and March 1. TWU will open the competition with a matchup against the Rattlers at 11 a.m.
