AUSTIN, Texas (March 11, 2025) - The Texas Woman's STUNT team competed in their final regular-season tournament of the year this past weekend at the St. Edward's Tournament, finishing 2-1 in three matchups. The only loss came to No. 5-ranked Dallas Baptist, the only Lone Star Conference opponent the Pioneers have not beaten this year. TWU secured victories in their other two matchups, defeating Ottawa University Arizona and St. Edward's.
"We couldn't have asked for a better end to our regular season—we put a new pyramid on the floor and continued to impress with improvements in all four quarters," said head coach Jasmine Owens. "A huge highlight this weekend was the score of seven points against top conference competitor Dallas Baptist University!"
On day one of the tournament, the Pioneers opened strong with a 17-0 shutout victory over Ottawa. Dallas Baptist was next up on day two, where they controlled the game and won 20-7. TWU bounced back in their final matchup against host St. Edward's, finishing the tournament with another shutout, 8-0, marking their sixth shutout of the year.
Several Pioneers earned top scorer honors, including team MVP Anna Cheek, who posted a power rank of 70. Sophomore Alicia Kenney was recognized as the team's JT star with a power rank of 46.
Coach Owens added, "We're excited to focus on consistency and difficulty as we prepare for the LSC Championships later this month."
The Pioneers will have a break in the coming weeks as they await their seeding for the Lone Star Conference Championships, set for March 28-29.
