DENTON, Texas (March 27, 2025) – The Lone Star Conference honor awards honored the top performers in STUNT at its annual conference banquet Thursday night, with Texas Woman's earning 15 accolades, including STUNT Athlete of the Year, Anna Cheek.
"Anna has been amazing since she first joined the team, but this summer is when she truly hit her stride," head coach Jasmine Owens said. "She has pushed herself in both tumbling and stunting to become stronger and more consistent. Her leadership as co-captain, along with her fun personality, brings an energy that lifts the team when it's needed most. I'm so proud of the athlete she's become and I'm confident she's not done yet!."
Assistant coach Caroline White echoed Owens' praise, "Anna is the epitome of leading by example. She seizes every opportunity to better herself and those around her. Her dedication to this team is tireless, and we are incredibly proud of her."
Cheek not only earned the title of 2025 LSC STUNT Athlete of the Year but was also named to the All-Conference First Team. She is the first TWU player to receive the conference's STUNT Athlete of the Year individual honor in STUNT.
To cap off her junior regular season, Cheek won 83 out of 232 rounds and finished with a power ranking of 436. She played and won the most rounds for the Pioneers this season and ranked as the team's top tumbler. This marks her second LSC honor this year, adding to her LSC Tumbler of the Week award in March following the TWU tournament, where she helped lead the Pioneers to a perfect 5-0 record, including three LSC victories. During that tournament, she posted a tumbling rank of 96 and was named the team's MVP with an overall ranking of 153.
Freshmen Julissa Cabrera, Jocelyn Dennie, Jasmine Monroe, and Brooke Speights joined Cheek on the All-Conference First Team list. For Dennie and Monroe, this honor marked their second consecutive First Team selection.
Additionally, six Pioneers secured spots on the All-Conference Second Team: Kara Abram, Tanith Chappie, Alicia Kenney, Fernanda Lopez, Kailen Smalls, and Sierra Warren. TWU also saw academic success, with Kenney, Bella Lind, and Brooke Speights being named to the LSC All-Academic Team.
With the regular season behind them, the No. 3-seeded Pioneers now turn their attention to the LSC Championships. TWU is set to face No. 2 seed St. Mary's in the opening round Friday at 12:30 p.m. as they look to continue their strong season and compete for the conference title.
