DALLAS (March 31, 2025) – The Texas Woman's University STUNT team participated in the second annual LSC Championship, joining host Dallas Baptist, St. Edward's, St. Mary's, and Texas A&M-Kingsville for the two-day tournament in Dallas.
The Pioneers finished the weekend with a 2-2 record, earning victories over St. Edward's and Texas A&M-Kingsville. However, they fell to St. Mary twice including a 14-10 defeat in the semifinal round. The DBU Patriots secured their second consecutive LSC Championship with a 20-4 victory over the Rattlers in the LSC title game.
"We had some great wins and some tough losses this past weekend at the LSC Championship, but I am very proud of how the team bounced back and rallied for whatever came next," said Head Coach Jasmine Owens. "Some standout routines included Jumps and Tumbling Seven, which continues to get stronger every time we perform it, as well as Pyramid and Baskets Five, which has become beautifully executed with new skills from the team. Several Pioneers were top scorers in the competition, including team MVP Anna Cheek, who finished with a total ranking of 159. Other standout performers included tumble star Alicia Kenney, who had a ranking of 97, and stunt stars Fernanda Lopez, Jasmine Monroe, and NaKarla Arriola.
On Friday, March 29, TWU started the championship with a tough 19-10 loss to St. Mary's, as an early deficit kept the Pioneers from securing a win. However, TWU rebounded in game two, dominating the Hilltoppers, 19-0. On Championship Saturday, the Pioneers opened with a 20-2 victory over Texas A&M-Kingsville before suffering a hard-fought 14-10 loss to St. Mary's in the semifinals.
Following the LSC Championship, the Pioneers now await to see if they have secured a trip to the 2025 College STUNT National Championship in Nashville, Tennessee, for the first time in program history. The selection date for new seeding is April 10, with TWU currently ranked 10th in the latest Division II poll.
