RICHARDSON, Texas (May 14, 2025) – For her success on the court and in the weight room,
Kayla Glover, a senior on the Texas Woman's basketball team, was named to the
2025 Lone Star Conference Athletic Performance All-Conference Team.
Glover marks one of 22 LSC student-athletes chosen to the list. It marks her first time being named to the Athletic Performance All-Conference Team.
According to the LSC, "the team recognizes student-athletes who excel in work ethic, dedication to process, attendance, communication, leadership and growth."
In its sixth year, the LSC Athletic Performance All-Conference Team is voted on by the league's athletic performance staff.
During her senior season in a return from injury, Glover led the Pioneers to their third straight LSC Regular Season Title, second straight LSC Tournament Title and second straight NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen appearance. She scored 121 points on the season, grabbed 105 rebounds and dished out 78 assists.
"
Kayla Glover is a phenomenal athlete and person," TWU Head Sports Performance Coach
Delaney Baxendale said. "She has faced adversity throughout her athletic career, suffering multiple season-ending injuries during her time at TWU. However, Kayla never let those injuries stop her from working as hard as she could to come back. This past year, she committed to coming into the weight room for voluntary extra sessions to get herself as strong as possible for her senior season and stay healthy. Her tireless work ethic and determination to increase her lower body strength during the off-season led her to personal bests in the weight room and on the court. Despite being unable to participate in the 2022-23 season and only getting into two games in the 2023-24 season, Kayla fought her way to earning a starting spot on the 2024-25 roster. At the end of the regular season, Kayla acknowledged that this has been her first regular season of her collegiate career that she has been able to remain injury-free and said that it was all thanks to her time in the weight room and the athletic training room. Kayla is a prime example of an athlete that utilizes the weight room as a space to better herself, and she has been an absolute pleasure to work with over the past couple of years."
Each institution is eligible to honor one male and one female on the team. From the list of honorees, Sam Phipps, a basketball player from UT Tyler, was selected as the LSC Male Athletic Performance Athlete of the Year, and Laney Lucero, a softball player from Eastern New Mexico, was selected as the Female Athletic Performance Athlete of the Year.
