SALT LAKE CITY (Sept. 2, 2023) – The Texas Woman's volleyball is set for day three of the Westminster Invitational. On their final day in Salt Lake City, the Pioneers will face Purdue Northwest (PNW) and Saint Martin's.
TWU (0-2) played a close match with No. 16 Nebraska Kearney Friday night, while PNW (1-1) faced Saint Martin's and Westminster on Friday in their opening day of the Invitational. PNW lost to Saint Martin's in four sets, and then returned Friday afternoon to defeat the host, Westminster, in five sets.
Saint Martin's also played two matches in their opening day on Friday at the Invitational, defeating both Purdue Northwest and Oklahoma Christian. Then, they played early Saturday morning against Nebraska-Kearney and fell in four sets.
The Pioneers will look to enter the win column on Saturday.

FINAL DAY IN UTAH
- PURDUE NORTHWEST: In their first match of the day, the Pioneers will face a Purdue Northwest team who is coming off a five-set victory over Westminster. The Pride were led by Anika Huelskamp in the win with 14 kills. Overall, the Pride hit .187 in the match with 57 kills on 171 total attacks. TWU and PNW have never met before.
- SAINT MARTIN'S: Like the Pioneers, the Saints will come into the afternoon match having already played on Saturday. After recording two wins on Friday, Saint Martin's fell to Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday morning in three sets. In the loss, the Saints hit .106 with 50 kills. Emmy Hansen led the way with 14 kills, and the Saints' setter Karla Soto finished the match with 42 assists. This will be the first meeting between the Pioneers and the Saints in program history.
- LAST GAME LEADERS: In their loss to Nebraska-Kearney, the Pioneers hit .194 with 44 kills. TWU had three players with double digit kills – Tori Woods (12), Malia Viernes (11) and Kady Hansen (10). Two Pioneers also had double digit assists in the match. Grace Reynolds finished with 18, and Kiana Reed finished with 16. Luna França recorded the most digs for TWU, recording 16 in the match. Look for each of these players to be key in Saturday's matches.
