PIONEERS RECORD FOURTH STRAIGHT WIN BEHIND CAREER DAY FROM ARIYANNA HINES

DENVER, Colo. (Nov. 10, 2024) – Behind a career-high afternoon from Ariyanna Hines, the Texas Woman's basketball team recorded their fourth straight win on Sunday.

TWU (4-0) defeated MSU Denver (0-2) by 10 points, 61-51, on the road to close out the Conference Challenge 2-0.

The Pioneers held MSU Denver to just eight points in the second quarter to propel them to a double-digit win.

It marked their third straight double-digit win this season.

IMPACT PLAYERS
  • Ariyanna Hines finished the game with a career high 14 points on 4-of-5 from the three point line. She also grabbed three rebounds and a season high three steals.
  • Ashley Ingram also added 14 points in the win. She also dished out four assists, grabbed one steal and three rebounds.
  • Scout Huffman added eight points in the win.
  • Gionna Carr went a perfect 3-for-3 from the field for seven points, and Leila Patel scored seven points and grabbed five points.
  • Kayla Glover also grabbed a season high five rebounds in the win.
  • Averee Kleinhans went a perfect 2-for-2 from the free throw line. She is currently 17-of-17 on the season from the free throw line. 
  • Every Pioneer who entered the game scored at least two points.
PIONEER POWER MOMENTS
  • TWU held the Roadrunners to shooting just 13.3% from the three point line. They won the battle in the paint, outscoring MSU Denver 26-20. They also won the rebound battle, 35-32.
  • The Pioneers shot 46% from the field and 40% from the three point line in the win.
  • TWU committed 18 turnovers on the day but also forced the Roadrunners to commit 15 turnovers and scored 18 points off those turnovers.
  • The Pioneers also shared the wealth today, matching their season high assist number at 15.
  • Hines gave TWU their first lead of the game at the 7:44 mark of the first quarter off a made three, 5-4.
  • The Roadrunners would tie it up at 11 with two minutes left in the opening quarter. TWU responded by quickly getting an easy bucket from Ingram to reclaim the lead, 13-11.
  • Ingram connected on an and-one to close the first quarter and send TWU into the second quarter with a four-point advantage, 19-15.
  • In the second quarter, MSU Denver tied the game up at 23 each. Once again, TWU responded strong. Glover quickly responded with a made layup off an assist from Gabby Elliott to put TWU back ahead, 25-23. The Pioneers would close the half on an 11-0 run, which included five points from Carr. TWU headed into halftime with an 11-point lead, 34-23.
  • TWU held MSU Denver to just 10 points in the third quarter. A triple by Hines with a minute remaining in the quarter would give TWU their largest lead of day at 17, 48-31.
  • With a 15-point advantage headed into the fourth quarter, TWU would remain ahead by double-digits for the entirety of the fourth quarter. The Pioneers scored 13 points in the quarter with eight of those points coming from Hines to win the game, 61-51.
