TWU READY FOR QUAD MEET AT DENVER

DENVER, Colo. (Feb. 16, 2025) – The Texas Woman's gymnastics team competes in their second meet of the weekend on Sunday afternoon.

Coming off a season high score at the Metroplex Challenge, the Pioneers look to build on their strong momentum at a Quad Meet hosted by Denver. The meet is slated to begin at 3 p.m. CST and will feature TWU, Denver, Oregon State and Ball State.

On Friday, TWU scored a season high 195.375 against California and Utah State in Fort Worth Texas.

READY FOR THE MOMENT
  • A LOOK AT THE OPPONENTS: The No. 21 Denver Pioneers last competed on Saturday, Feb. 8 at home in the Magness Arena against BYU. The Pioneers scored a season high 196.625 to win the meet. Denver ranks in the Top 10, at No. 9, on bars. The No. 10 Oregon State Beavers last competed at home on Monday, Feb. 10 against Alaska and Washington. Oregon State claimed the win with a 197.325. Their season high came on Jan. 17 at home against San Jose State when they scored a 197.600. The Beavers rank third on beam and seventh on floor. Ball State comes into the meet ranked 32nd on Road to Nationals with their highest event ranking being on floor. They last competed at home against Central Michigan on Sunday, Feb. 9 and scored a season high 195.575.  
  • HISTORY: TWU has competed against Denver once this season on Jan. 20 at Arkansas. The pair of Pioneers have met 27 times with TWU defeating Denver once in 1993 in Denton, Texas. TWU has met Denver 16 times in Colorado – the last time being in 2023. During the 2023 season, TWU opened their season at Denver with a 191.725. TWU has met Oregon State twice. The two teams last met in Denton, Texas during the 2016 season. TWU scored a 193.000, while the Beavers posted a 196.550. TWU has met Ball State six times, and they are 4-2 against the Cardinals. The two teams last met in 2010 on the road.
  • LAST MEET STAND OUTS: At the Metroplex Challenge, Kaitlyn Hoiland claimed the vault title with a season high 9.900. Also on vault, Sophia Isbell scored a season high 9.825. Maddy Murphy made her TWU vault debut and scored a 9.750. Emma Brkljacic tied for first on beam with a season high 9.875. Steelie King also posted a season high on beam of a 9.800. Kyleigh Ghanbari matched her career high on floor with a 9.875. On the uneven bars, Brooke Ferrari and Lainey Hunt both matched their season highs of 9.775's.
