Dr. Lyle continued to build a reputation for the TWU Track and Field program both locally and nationally, working with the U.S. Olympic Committee and the U.S. Track & Field Federation. In 1971, the Texas Woman’s team traveled to Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington for the DGWS championships and secured their second national championship in three years. TWU scored 56 points to edge out Cal State Hayward and Cal Poly Pomana. In the win, TWU had 11 event placers in individual events and had two relay teams score points.
