Barbaria was a member of the All-American field hockey team from 1943-47 and a four-time All-American in lacrosse. In addition to being a member of the TWU field hockey team, she was also the Texas State Singles Badminton Champion in 1942 and 1946. She has won numerous amateur golf tournaments, including the Senior Citizens' Olympic Golf Tournament, in addition to being a stand out in softball. The Galena Park native graduated from Texas State College for Women (now TWU) in 1942 with a bachelor's degree in health and physical education and a master's in 1946. She passed away on August 6, 2006, at the age of 85 at her home in Lake Wildwood, Calif.
