Texas Woman's University Athletics

The first Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) National Championships were held May 11–12, 1971 in Hayward, California. Texas Woman’s dominated the team scores with 64 points, besting host and second-place team Cal State Hayward and third-place Cal State LA , winning TWU Track and Field their third national championship in five years. TWU had eight event placers in individual events and had three relay teams score points.
