Steinmetz played volleyball at TWU from 1993-96. As a setter, she led the team in assists all four years. Additionally, she holds the program records for most assists in a match and most career assists. She was an AVCA All-Region honoree three years in a row and an All-Lone Star Conference honoree four years in a row. In 1996, she was named the LSC Preseason Player of the Year and the LSC Most Valuable Player. Steinmetz was also committed to success in the classroom, earning numerous awards for her academic excellence.
