DENTON, Texas (Jan. 18, 2025) – In their second meet of the season, the Texas Woman's gymnastics team claimed the meet victory against Southeast Missouri State and West Chester.
TWU scored a 194.875 to win the meet, as they continued to build upon their record-breaking season opener last week.
The Pioneers now officially started the season with two overall wins, marking the first time since 2002 TWU has started the season with two overall meet wins.
TWU also celebrated three event winners.
Trinity Caffey scored a season high 9.850 on vault to tie for first place.
Caroline Bowns matched her season high with a 9.800 on the uneven bars to tie for first on bars, and she followed up bars with an impressive performance on beam to win the event with a career high 9.800.
Starting out on vault, the Pioneers set the tone of the meet early with a season high 48.975 on vault.
Alaina Reid started TWU off with a career high 9.775, and
Bailey Upton answered with a 9.800 in her vault debut. In the third and fourth spots,
Steelie King and
Sophia Isbell hit season highs of 9.775. Caffey also joined the season high party with her season high score on vault of a 9.850.
Kaitlyn Hoiland anchored the rotation with her vault of a 9.775.
Then, TWU rotated to bars and scored a 48.675. As mentioned above, Bowns led the way for TWU with a 9.800.
Kami Zarlengo scored a season high 9.750, while
Bailey Bourgeois continued her career high streak, setting a new mark of 9.725 on the uneven bars. Hoiland matched Bourgeois's score in the anchor spot for TWU. Hunt kicked off the rotation in the lead-off spot for TWU with a 9.675.
The Pioneers followed up bars with a season high score on beam of a 48.375. Bowns led the way with a career high 9.800.
Emma Brkljacic followed Bowns and hit a season high 9.725 on beam.
Sophie Hernandez matched her season high with a 9.675, and Hoiland anchored with a 9.650.
TWU closed the night with the floor party and another season high, scoring a 48.850 in the final rotation. Two Pioneers scored above a 9.800, as Upton scored a career high 9.850, and Isbell also scored a career high 9.825. In the second spot, Hernandez scored a season high 9.775, and King added a season high 9.725 in her season floor debut. Caffey got the floor party started with a 9.675.
SEMO placed second in the meet with a 193.325, and West Chester came in third, scoring a 191.750.
